This form is to be completed by an Authorised Meter Validator1 for the validation of water meter installations attached to surface water or underground water works extracting water under the authority of the Water Act 2000. Where a water meter meets the requirements of Module A of the Queensland interim water meter standard for nonurban metering (interim standard), the authorised meter validator must give the relevant person2 a copy of this form as a validation certificate, within 20 business days of an inspection of the water meter.

The relevant person must give a copy of the validation certificate to the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water within 20 business days of receipt of the validation certificate. Where a water meter does not meet the requirements of Module A of the interim standard, the authorised meter validator must provide the relevant person with a copy of this form as a validation notice explaining why, and any potential modifications that could allow the meter to become compliant. The relevant person or the authorised meter validator may provide a copy of this notice to the department.

Exemption from revalidation

You do not need to revalidate your meter if your metered works (pump) is no longer used to take water under the authority of your metered water entitlement, for example, if your pump is now only used for stock and domestic purposes or other prescribed activities. Prescribed activities are listed under Schedule 3 of the Water Regulation 2016.

Metered entitlement holders are required to notify the department if these circumstances apply.

Note: In QLD it is the responsibility of the Land Owner to lodge the Validation Certificate but if you are in the field with your iPad and no printer then RDMW will accept certificates directly from the CMI, please make sure Part B is correctly filled out. RDMW QLD Validation Certificates should be sent to the nearest RDMW Office by email e.g. waterservicesgympie@dnrme.qld.gov.au
