Water entitlement holders are responsible for engaging an authorised meter validator who will inspect the meter and issue a validation certificate if it meets requirements.
Authorised meter validators are either certified by Irrigation Australia or appointed by the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water.
The validation certificate confirms that your meter complies with the required standard and must be supplied to the department.
Authorised meter validators cannot validate their own meter.
As the water entitlement holder it is your responsibility to ensure that all metering requirements are met.
If you don't your meter could lose its approval status. Taking water through a meter that is not approved is an offence under the Water Act 2000.
