I would like to connect my on-farm telemetry device to a modbus port on my meter. How can I ensure the write function is disabled in accordance with the department’s requirements?
Any write function codes must not be available to anyone except the duly qualified person. A firmware level block should be made on the port stopping any write function to the meter. Alternatively, a duly qualified person who requires certain access for operational purposes and troubleshooting should ensure adequate password protections are in place and not share that information or retain any generic passwords.
